FRACTAL SEED

One sentence: Between July 2024 and March 2026, at least eleven people connected to defense research, aerospace technology, nuclear laboratories, or AI whistleblowing either died or disappeared under circumstances ranging from officially explained to deeply anomalous - and the documented funding chain connecting at least two of them (Reza-McCasland via Mondaloy/AFRL) is the single strongest factual link in an otherwise diffuse pattern.

Paragraph: This dossier catalogs every verified case of a defense/aerospace/science-connected person who died or disappeared between mid-2024 and early 2026, assessed individually on documented evidence. The cases fall into three tiers: (1) genuinely anomalous disappearances with no explanation (Reza, McCasland, Casias, Chavez), (2) violent deaths where suspects were identified but motives remain unclear or disputed (Loureiro, Grillmair, Barnett, Balaji), and (3) cases with plausible mundane explanations that became grouped with the others through media narrative (Thomas, Dean, Maiwald, Prichard). The strongest analytical signal is not a coordinated assassination program - for which no evidence exists - but rather the clustering of disappearances at institutions handling classified aerospace materials (LANL, AFRL/Wright-Patterson, JPL/Aerojet Rocketdyne) and the confirmed funding chain linking Reza’s Mondaloy superalloy to McCasland’s AFRL budget authority. The weakest signal is the media tendency to count all cases as equivalent regardless of circumstances. This dossier separates the two.

PESHAT (Documented Cases)

TIER 1: GENUINELY ANOMALOUS - NO EXPLANATION

Case 1: Monica Jacinto Reza - Aerospace Engineer / Superalloy Inventor

  • Date of disappearance: June 22, 2025
  • Age: 60
  • Role: Former Technical Fellow (highest technical rank) at Aerojet Rocketdyne. Recently joined NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Co-inventor of Mondaloy, a family of nickel-based superalloys critical to US national security rocket engines
  • Mondaloy significance: The alloy enables components in the AR1 engine (the replacement for Russian RD-180 engines) to withstand extreme heat and oxygen-rich combustion environments. Used in preburner, turbine rotor, turbine housing, ducts, and hot gas manifold. The AR1 program is mandated by Congress to end US dependence on Russian engine technology for military launches. Mondaloy has been developed through multiple Air Force and NASA contracts since the first cost-sharing program with AFRL in 1999
  • Employer chain: Aerojet Rocketdyne (acquired by L3Harris in July 2023 for $4.7B) -> NASA JPL. L3Harris produces solid rocket motors for PAC-3, THAAD, Tomahawk, and Standard Missiles
  • Circumstances: Disappeared while hiking near Mount Waterman, Angeles National Forest, California. Last seen 9:10 AM waving to a companion on Upper West Ridge Trail. Extensive search involving dozens of agencies, helicopters, dogs, and drones found zero trace. Case transferred to LA County Sheriff Homicide Bureau: Missing Persons Unit. Active search phase ended approximately June 29, 2025
  • Status as of April 2026: MISSING - no trace found. No body, no clothing, no equipment recovered
  • Anomaly assessment: HIGH. Experienced hiker. Major search found nothing. No evidence of fall, animal attack, or departure from area. The complete absence of any physical trace is the most troubling element
  • Sources: NBC Dateline/NewsNation, Solve the Case, The Sentinel Network, Crescenta Valley Weekly, Newsweek

Case 2: William Neil McCasland - Retired Air Force Major General

  • Date of disappearance: February 27, 2026
  • Age: 68
  • Role: Commanded Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB (May 2011-October 2013), overseeing $4.4 billion portfolio. Chief engineer on DOD GPS program. Director of Special Programs at the Pentagon - specifically executive secretary for the Special Access Program Oversight Committee (SAPOC), the oversight body with full purview of America’s most sensitive programs. System program director, Space Based Laser Project Office. Degrees from US Air Force Academy, MIT, and Harvard’s Kennedy School. Post-retirement: consulted with Tom DeLonge’s To The Stars, Inc. regarding UAP
  • SAPOC significance: As SAPOC executive secretary, McCasland had oversight over ALL US Special Access Programs - the most classified tier of US government secrecy. This includes any SAPs related to recovered exotic materials, if they exist
  • To The Stars connection: Subject of a January 25, 2016 email from Tom DeLonge to John Podesta (released via WikiLeaks), in which DeLonge described working with McCasland for four months and giving him a four-hour presentation on DeLonge’s UAP research project
  • Mondaloy funding chain: McCasland commanded AFRL with direct budget authority over advanced materials and propulsion research. The Mondaloy program received AFRL funding during his tenure. Reza developed the technology; McCasland controlled the funding
  • Circumstances: Left his Albuquerque home on foot at approximately 11 AM. Left behind phone, prescription glasses, and wearable devices. Changed clothes before leaving. His wife told 911 dispatchers she had “some indication that he planned not to be found.” She also stated he had been “saying if his brain and body keep deteriorating, he doesn’t want to live like that” but emphasized he had “never” done anything “even remotely” like this. A .38-caliber revolver and his wallet are also missing. FBI involved in search. Helicopter with infrared cameras deployed but unseasonably warm spring made detection impossible
  • Critical timing: Disappeared exactly 7 days after Trump’s February 20, 2026 directive ordering Pentagon to release UAP records
  • Wright-Patterson context: The base McCasland commanded is the site long rumored (and officially denied) to house materials related to alleged Roswell crash retrieval
  • Status as of April 2026: MISSING - not found. FBI and Bernalillo County Sheriff continue search
  • Anomaly assessment: MEDIUM-HIGH. The 911 call suggests possible voluntary departure due to health concerns, which would lower the anomaly score. However, the timing relative to the UAP disclosure order, his unique position as SAPOC executive secretary, and the Mondaloy connection to Reza keep this elevated

Case 3: Melissa Casias - Los Alamos National Laboratory Employee

  • Date of disappearance: June 26, 2025
  • Age: 53
  • Role: Administrative assistant and advisory board member at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Held security clearance. [NOTE: her role was administrative, not scientific - some media reports have inflated her position]
  • LANL context: Los Alamos is a Department of Energy national security laboratory. Founded during the Manhattan Project. Responsible for nuclear weapons design, maintenance, testing, and stockpile stewardship
  • Circumstances: Drove husband to LANL that morning. Returned home to Taos to work remotely after forgetting her employee badge. Visited daughter at a cafe, gave her a sandwich. Last seen 2:18 PM walking eastbound on NM 518 from Talpa toward Pot Creek on surveillance footage. Car, purse, and phones left at home. Family offered $5,000 reward
  • Investigation: New Mexico State Police reported “no breakthroughs” and stated they are “looking into every angle,” neither ruling out foul play nor voluntary departure
  • Status as of April 2026: MISSING - no trace
  • Anomaly assessment: MEDIUM. Administrative role means lower classification exposure than often reported. Walking away without phone or purse is consistent with either voluntary departure or disorientation. Four days after Reza’s disappearance is notable timing
  • Sources: NBC Dateline, Taos News, ABQ Journal

Case 4: Anthony “Tony” Chavez - Retired LANL Employee

  • Date of disappearance: May 4, 2025
  • Age: 79 (78 at time of disappearance)
  • Role: Former worker at Los Alamos National Laboratory, retired 2017. Specific role/projects unknown
  • Circumstances: Walked out of his house in the Denver Steels neighborhood of Los Alamos. Left car locked in driveway. Did not take wallet, keys, or phone. Family considers disappearance “out of character.” Reported as missing person May 8, 2025
  • Investigation: Los Alamos Police Department. Exhaustive search efforts unsuccessful. Nearly a year later, police say there is zero new information
  • Status as of April 2026: MISSING - no trace
  • Anomaly assessment: MEDIUM-LOW. At 79, cognitive decline or health event while walking is a possibility. However, the complete absence of any trace despite being on foot in a small community is unusual. Pattern similarity to Casias (also LANL-connected, also walked away without belongings) is noted
  • Sources: Los Alamos Reporter, Los Alamos County, Los Alamos Daily Post

TIER 2: VIOLENT DEATHS - SUSPECTS IDENTIFIED, MOTIVES UNCLEAR OR DISPUTED

Case 5: Nuno Filipe Gomes Loureiro - MIT Plasma Physicist

  • Date of death: December 15-16, 2025
  • Age: 47
  • Role: Herman Feshbach Professor of Physics at MIT. Director of MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center since 2024. Research focused on magnetic reconnection, plasma turbulence, generation and amplification of magnetic fields, and magnetic confinement fusion. Received Presidential Early Career Award from Biden in January 2025
  • Fusion/military context: MIT PSFC works on fusion energy research funded primarily by Department of Energy. Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS), a commercial fusion company spun out of MIT, is developing the SPARC tokamak. Fusion has dual-use potential (energy and weapons physics) but Loureiro’s specific research was theoretical/academic, not weapons-oriented. No documented DOD contracts for Loureiro’s personal research found
  • Circumstances: Shot in the foyer of his apartment building in Brookline, Massachusetts. Pronounced dead early December 16
  • Suspect: Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, 48, Portuguese national. Found dead from self-inflicted gunshot wound in a storage unit in Salem, New Hampshire, December 18. Valente had attended the same university (Instituto Superior Tecnico in Lisbon) as Loureiro between 1995-2000, graduating first in his class. He enrolled in Brown University’s physics PhD program in September 2000. Two days before killing Loureiro, Valente shot and killed two students at Brown University (December 13, 2025). In recordings found in the storage facility, Valente confessed to the murders, said he had been planning them for years, but did not give a motive
  • Assessment: The killer’s connection to Loureiro is clearly personal/academic (same Portuguese university program, decades-long apparent grudge). This is NOT an anomalous disappearance. However, the absence of any stated motive beyond “planning for years” leaves a gap
  • Anomaly assessment: LOW for conspiracy connection. The personal academic link to the killer is well-documented. This case should NOT be grouped with Tier 1 cases as equivalent
  • Sources: MIT News, NBC News, Nature, PBS, CNN, Wikipedia, Wikipedia - Brown shooting

Case 6: Carl Johann Grillmair - Caltech Astronomer

  • Date of death: February 16, 2026
  • Age: 66
  • Role: Associate Scientist at Caltech’s Infrared Processing and Analysis Center (IPAC) since 1997. Discovered dozens of stellar streams (remnants of galactic collisions). Co-authored the first detection of molecular signatures (water) in exoplanet atmospheres (2007). Pioneered matched-filtering techniques for detecting low-surface-brightness structures in wide-field survey data. Published 147 peer-reviewed papers. Awarded 400+ hours of Hubble and Spitzer telescope time as PI, 2,700+ hours as co-PI
  • Defense connection: NONE FOUND. Grillmair’s work was pure astrophysics - stellar streams, dark matter, exoplanets. Not satellite tracking, not space surveillance, not defense-related. His inclusion in “missing defense scientists” lists is misleading
  • Circumstances: Shot outside his home in Llano, California at 6:10 AM with a single bullet wound to the torso
  • Suspect: Freddy Snyder, 29, who lived two miles away. Charged with murder, carjacking (of his own relative), and burglary. Grillmair had called deputies on December 20, 2025 to report Snyder trespassing on his property. Snyder was arrested for weapons violations at that time. He returned two months later and shot Grillmair
  • Assessment: This is a local criminal who had a documented history of trespassing on the victim’s property. The suspect was arrested there previously. This is not an assassination - it is a rural property crime that escalated to murder
  • Anomaly assessment: VERY LOW. Clear local criminal motive. No defense connection. Should NOT be counted in the “missing/dead defense scientists” list at all
  • Sources: Caltech obituary, Fox LA, ABC7, Wikipedia, LA Mag

Case 7: John Barnett - Boeing Whistleblower

  • Date of death: March 9, 2024
  • Age: 62
  • Role: Former quality manager at Boeing’s North Charleston, South Carolina facility. Whistleblower who raised alarms about Boeing 787 Dreamliner production quality, including improperly manufactured parts, workers being pressured to not document defects, and oxygen systems with a 25% failure rate
  • Circumstances: Found dead in his locked vehicle (orange Dodge Ram pickup) in a hotel parking lot in Charleston, SC, from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound with the key fob in his pocket. He was in town for deposition testimony in his whistleblower retaliation case against Boeing. He had been giving depositions for several days before his death. Five days earlier, on March 4, he had seen a mental health counselor and was experiencing nightmares about people dying in airplanes
  • Official ruling: Suicide (Charleston County Coroner)
  • Aftermath: Family filed wrongful death lawsuit against Boeing alleging company’s retaliation and workplace harassment caused PTSD, depression, and anxiety that led to his suicide. Boeing settled the lawsuit in May 2025
  • Anomaly assessment: MEDIUM. Official suicide ruling is disputed by some but consistent with documented mental health struggles. Boeing settling the wrongful death suit is notable. The timing during active depositions is concerning but also consistent with acute stress
  • Sources: NPR, NPR lawsuit, Washington Post, CBS News, Al Jazeera

Case 8: Suchir Balaji - OpenAI Whistleblower / AI Researcher

  • Date of death: November 26, 2024
  • Age: 26
  • Role: Former AI researcher at OpenAI who publicly accused the company of violating US copyright law in training ChatGPT. Identified by New York Times attorneys as someone who might have “relevant documents” in their copyright case against OpenAI (court filing November 18, 2024 - 8 days before his death). Had stated he would testify against OpenAI
  • Circumstances: Found dead in his San Francisco apartment from a single gunshot wound to the head. Police performed welfare check after receiving a call. The apartment’s only entrance was dead-bolted from the inside. He had recently researched brain anatomy on his computer. Toxicology showed alcohol, amphetamine, and GHB in his system
  • Official ruling: Suicide (San Francisco OCME autopsy, February 14, 2025). SFPD found “no evidence of foul play”
  • Disputed by: Parents described his mood as “cheerful” two weeks prior. They cited lack of a suicide note and claimed blood spatter anomalies. Hired private investigators and had a second autopsy performed. Filed lawsuit against his apartment complex
  • Defense connection: Indirect at most. OpenAI is part of the Palantir-Anduril defense tech consortium. AI copyright precedent has implications for military AI systems
  • Anomaly assessment: MEDIUM. Locked door from inside and computer search history are consistent with suicide. GHB in toxicology is unusual but not impossible for recreational use. The timing 8 days after being identified as a potential witness is concerning. Parents’ dispute is noted but family members often contest suicide rulings

TIER 3: PLAUSIBLE MUNDANE EXPLANATIONS

Case 9: Jason Thomas - Novartis Chemical Biologist

  • Date of disappearance: December 12, 2025 (missing); March 17, 2026 (found dead)
  • Age: 45
  • Role: Assistant Director of Chemical Biology at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research
  • Novartis defense connection: Novartis received a $13.2M DOD contract (ADEPT-PROTECT) for mRNA-based prophylactic research. This is defensive biomedical research, not offensive biological agents. Thomas’s specific role in chemical biology focused on drug discovery, not defense contracts [UNVERIFIED whether Thomas personally worked on defense-related projects]
  • Circumstances: Last seen walking away from his home in Wakefield, Massachusetts at night. His parents had died the month before. Body found in Lake Quannapowitt on March 17, 2026 after ice thawed
  • Official assessment: Police do not suspect foul play
  • Assessment: Recent death of both parents is a significant personal stressor consistent with mental health crisis. Walking toward a lake at night in December, with body found in that lake, suggests accidental death or suicide. No classified research connection documented
  • Anomaly assessment: LOW. Circumstances are tragic but consistent with grief-related crisis
  • Sources: NBC Dateline, Boston.com, Daily Voice

Case 10: Joshua Dean - Boeing Supplier Whistleblower

  • Date of death: May 1, 2024
  • Age: 45
  • Role: Former quality auditor at Spirit AeroSystems (key Boeing supplier). Whistleblower who raised concerns about improperly drilled holes in 737 Max jet fuselages. Had told NPR in February 2024: “I think they were sending out a message to anybody else: If you are too loud, we will silence you”
  • Circumstances: Died after sudden onset MRSA bacterial infection. Had tested positive for Influenza B, then developed MRSA followed by pneumonia and possible stroke. Described as previously healthy with active lifestyle
  • Assessment: Second Boeing-related whistleblower to die within two months (after Barnett). However, MRSA is a real and sometimes fatal infection. The sudden onset in an otherwise healthy person is unusual but not impossible
  • Anomaly assessment: LOW-MEDIUM. MRSA death is verifiable medical event. The clustering with Barnett’s death is what raises the score above baseline
  • Sources: NPR, Al Jazeera, Time, Fortune, Snopes, Seattle Times

Case 11: Frank Maiwald - NASA JPL Researcher

  • Date of death: July 4, 2024
  • Age: 61
  • Role: Researcher at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Managed development of the SBG-VSWIR instrument. Previously oversaw delivery of two instruments for the AMR-C program. Served as technical group supervisor. Contributed to AMR/SWOT, COWVR, AMR/Jason 3, and HIFI programs. Born in Ratingen, Germany; educated at University of Cologne
  • Circumstances: Died in Los Angeles. Cause of death never publicly disclosed. No autopsy was performed. NASA has never commented publicly on his death
  • Assessment: The absence of publicly disclosed cause of death and no autopsy is unusual but not unique - many deaths do not receive autopsies if attending physician can certify cause. Without more information, this case is unassessable. The lack of information is itself the anomaly
  • Anomaly assessment: UNASSESSABLE. Insufficient public information to determine anything. Including this in conspiracy lists based solely on “no disclosed cause of death” is premature
  • Sources: Legacy.com obituary, Brobible

Case 12: Wright-Patterson Murder-Suicide (Prichard / Gustitus)

  • Date: October 25, 2025
  • Deceased: Jacob Prichard (34), Jaymee Prichard (33), 1st Lt. Jaime Gustitus (25)
  • Roles: Jacob Prichard - Acquisition Project Manager, AFRL Sensors Directorate (technologies for air and space reconnaissance and surveillance). Jaymee Prichard - Air Force Life Cycle Management Center employee. 1st Lt. Jaime Gustitus - 711th Human Performance Wing
  • Circumstances: Jacob Prichard killed his wife Jaymee, placed her body in the trunk of their car, drove to Sugarcreek Township, broke into Gustitus’s apartment and fatally shot her around 2 AM, then drove to West Milton Municipal Building and committed suicide by gunshot around 4:30 AM. All three knew each other through work at Wright-Patterson. Air Force Office of Special Investigations assisted with evidence analysis
  • Assessment: This is a domestic violence murder-suicide that happens to involve military personnel. There is zero public evidence of a defense/intelligence connection. Including it in “missing defense scientists” counts is misleading
  • Anomaly assessment: VERY LOW for conspiracy connection. Domestic violence, not intelligence operation
  • Sources: Fox19, WDTN, NewsNation, The Salty Soldier, SOFREP

REMEZ (Connections and Patterns)

Pattern 1: Timeline Clustering

Date Person Institution Category
Mar 9, 2024 John Barnett Boeing Whistleblower suicide
May 1, 2024 Joshua Dean Spirit AeroSystems/Boeing Whistleblower infection death
Jul 4, 2024 Frank Maiwald NASA JPL Unknown cause, no autopsy
May 4, 2025 Anthony Chavez LANL (retired) Vanished on foot
Jun 22, 2025 Monica Reza Aerojet Rocketdyne/JPL Vanished hiking
Jun 26, 2025 Melissa Casias LANL Vanished on foot
Oct 25, 2025 Prichard/Gustitus Wright-Patterson AFRL Murder-suicide
Dec 12, 2025 Jason Thomas Novartis Walked away, found dead in lake
Dec 15, 2025 Nuno Loureiro MIT PSFC Murdered by former classmate
Feb 16, 2026 Carl Grillmair Caltech IPAC Murdered by local criminal
Feb 27, 2026 William McCasland AFRL/Pentagon (retired) Vanished on foot
Nov 26, 2024 Suchir Balaji OpenAI Ruled suicide, disputed

Cluster 1 - Boeing whistleblowers (Mar-May 2024): Two deaths within 8 weeks, both during or after legal proceedings against Boeing. Different causes (gunshot, infection). Boeing subsequently settled the Barnett wrongful death suit.

Cluster 2 - Los Alamos / New Mexico (May-June 2025): Three LANL-connected people vanish within 53 days (Chavez May 4, Reza June 22, Casias June 26). Reza worked at JPL, not LANL, but in the same general ecosystem. Chavez and Casias were both LANL employees who walked away from home without phone or belongings.

Cluster 3 - December 2025 violence: Two deaths in 3 days (Thomas Dec 12, Loureiro Dec 15). Different circumstances - one walked into a lake, one was shot by a known attacker.

Pattern 2: Institutional Clustering

Los Alamos National Laboratory: Casias (active employee, admin), Chavez (retired). Two LANL-connected people vanish within 53 days of each other. LANL is classified nuclear weapons facility.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base / AFRL: McCasland (former commander), Prichard/Gustitus (active employees). One disappearance, one murder-suicide - entirely different circumstances. The only connection is the base.

NASA JPL / Aerojet Rocketdyne: Reza (co-inventor of Mondaloy, recently moved from Aerojet to JPL), Maiwald (JPL researcher). One disappearance, one unexplained death.

Boeing/suppliers: Barnett, Dean. Two whistleblowers dead within 8 weeks.

This is the single most significant factual connection between any two cases:

  1. Monica Reza co-invented Mondaloy, a superalloy critical to the AR1 engine program - the Congressional mandate to replace Russian RD-180 engines for national security launches
  2. Mondaloy development has been funded through multiple Air Force Research Laboratory contracts since 1999
  3. William McCasland commanded AFRL (2011-2013) with $4.4B budget authority over exactly these kinds of programs
  4. McCasland also served as SAPOC executive secretary - the person who oversaw ALL US Special Access Programs
  5. Both vanished - Reza on June 22, 2025; McCasland on February 27, 2026 (8 months apart)
  6. Neither has been found as of April 2026

The funding chain is documented. The connection between them through Mondaloy/AFRL is documented. Their disappearances are documented. What is NOT documented is any causal connection between these facts. Correlation is not causation - but this correlation is specific enough to warrant investigation, and Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department stated they are looking into whether the cases are connected.

Pattern 4: The “Walk Away” Pattern

Four cases share a distinctive circumstance: the person walked away from their home on foot without phone, wallet, or keys:

  • Chavez (May 4, 2025) - walked out of Los Alamos home
  • Reza (June 22, 2025) - walked away from hiking companion on trail
  • Casias (June 26, 2025) - walked along NM 518 from home
  • McCasland (February 27, 2026) - walked away from Albuquerque home

In all four cases, the person left behind electronic devices. In all four cases, no body or trace was ever found (McCasland search ongoing). This is the most unusual shared characteristic.

Pattern 5: Boeing Whistleblower Proximity

Two Boeing-connected whistleblowers died within 8 weeks of each other in 2024:

  • Barnett (March 9, 2024) - ruled suicide during active depositions
  • Dean (May 1, 2024) - sudden fatal MRSA infection

Both had been publicly critical of Boeing. Both died during active legal proceedings. Different causes of death reduce conspiracy probability but the clustering is notable.

Pattern 6: Technate-Adjacent Company Connections

Cross-referencing with the Technate infrastructure analysis:

Person Institution Technate-Adjacent?
Reza Aerojet Rocketdyne/L3Harris YES - L3Harris produces PAC-3, THAAD, Tomahawk motors. Directly in defense supply chain
McCasland AFRL/Pentagon YES - Oversaw programs that Palantir/Anduril now integrate with. SAPOC oversight of all SAPs
Casias LANL INDIRECT - LANL nuclear weapons work feeds into broader DOE/DOD complex
Chavez LANL (retired) INDIRECT - same as Casias
Maiwald NASA JPL INDIRECT - JPL has contracts with defense-adjacent entities but Maiwald’s specific work (earth observation instruments) is civilian
Loureiro MIT PSFC WEAK - Fusion research has dual-use potential but no direct Technate connection
Grillmair Caltech NONE - Pure astrophysics
Thomas Novartis WEAK - Novartis has DOD biodefense contracts but Thomas’s role unclear
Barnett/Dean Boeing YES - Boeing is core defense contractor. Whistleblowing about production quality
Balaji OpenAI YES - OpenAI is in Palantir-Anduril defense consortium
Prichard AFRL Sensors YES - Directly worked on reconnaissance/surveillance tech

Assessment: Only 3-4 of these cases involve people with documented connections to Technate-adjacent infrastructure (Reza, McCasland, Barnett/Dean, arguably Balaji via OpenAI consortium). The rest are included in lists through guilt-by-institutional-association.

DRASH (Mechanism Analysis)

Hypothesis 1: Deliberate Elimination Program

Required capability: An organization that can make people disappear without trace (Reza, Casias, Chavez, McCasland), stage convincing suicides (Barnett, Balaji), and deploy exotic assassination methods (Dean’s MRSA)

Who has this capability? Historically, US intelligence agencies (CIA, military intelligence) have documented capabilities for covert action against individuals. Operation MKUltra (1953-1973), COINTELPRO (1956-1971), and the CIA’s “Family Jewels” revelations all document such programs existing within US government structures.

Motive under this hypothesis: These individuals either:

  • Knew something about classified programs that was about to be disclosed (McCasland + UAP disclosure order timing)
  • Possessed technical knowledge that threatened specific defense contracts (Reza’s Mondaloy enabling alternatives to current systems)
  • Were about to testify or disclose corporate misconduct (Barnett, Dean, Balaji)

Problems with this hypothesis:

  1. No physical evidence links any case to another
  2. Law enforcement has found no connections between cases
  3. The list conflates genuinely anomalous cases (Tier 1) with clearly explained ones (Tier 3)
  4. If this were a program, it would be astonishingly sloppy - the clustering itself draws attention
  5. Professional elimination programs historically aim to look natural; several of these cases (Loureiro, Grillmair) clearly don’t fit the pattern

Confidence: 5-10%. Possible but unsupported by current evidence.

Hypothesis 2: Coincidence + Confirmation Bias + Media Amplification

The base rate problem: The United States has approximately 660,000 missing persons reports filed annually (FBI NCIC). Of these, approximately 4,400 are for unidentified deceased persons. Over 600,000 Americans die of heart disease alone each year. The defense/aerospace/science sector employs millions of people.

The clustering effect: Six to eleven cases over 24 months, drawn from a population of millions of defense/science workers, is not statistically remarkable as a raw number. What makes these cases notable is the specific characteristics of the individuals (high clearance, sensitive research), not the count.

The media amplification cycle:

  1. Reza disappeared (June 2025) - local news story
  2. McCasland disappeared (February 2026) - national news due to military rank
  3. Media connects Reza to McCasland via Mondaloy - “pattern” narrative begins
  4. Other cases are retroactively included (Casias, Thomas, Loureiro, Grillmair) regardless of whether circumstances warrant it
  5. Rep. Tim Burchett amplifies in Congress, adding political dimension
  6. Conspiracy-adjacent media inflates the count and flattens the distinctions between cases

Selection bias: We notice these cases BECAUSE we are looking for them. We do not notice the thousands of scientists and defense workers who did NOT die or disappear during the same period.

Confidence: 50-60%. Most likely explanation for the aggregate pattern, though it does not explain individual anomalous cases.

Hypothesis 3: Mixed - Some Cases Are Connected, Most Are Not

The most analytically defensible position:

Probably connected: Reza and McCasland (documented Mondaloy/AFRL funding chain, both vanished without trace)

Possibly connected: Barnett and Dean (both Boeing whistleblowers, 8-week gap)

Probably not connected: Loureiro (killed by known assailant from same Portuguese university), Grillmair (killed by local criminal with documented trespassing history), Thomas (grief-related death), Prichard/Gustitus (domestic violence)

Unclear: Casias, Chavez (LANL connection is institutional proximity, not demonstrated causal link), Maiwald (insufficient information), Balaji (timing is suspicious but evidence points to suicide)

Confidence: 25-30%. This is the most nuanced position but also the hardest to act on.

ADVERSARY (Steelman: All Coincidence)

The strongest case that this is entirely coincidence:

  1. Scientists die. The US has ~7 million people working in STEM. Even at standard mortality rates, hundreds die monthly. Some will die violently. Some will disappear.

  2. Hikers go missing. The Angeles National Forest where Reza disappeared averages 2-3 missing hikers per year. The terrain is steep, rugged, and recovery of bodies is sometimes impossible.

  3. The elderly wander. Both Chavez (79) and McCasland (68, with reported medical issues) fit a well-documented pattern of older adults who leave home and are not found.

  4. Suicide in high-stress fields is real. Defense workers have elevated suicide rates. Whistleblowers experience documented PTSD. Barnett’s mental health struggles were documented. Balaji had intoxicants in his system.

  5. The Loureiro case is SOLVED. The killer is identified, his connection to the victim is documented (same Portuguese university), his other crimes are documented (Brown University shooting). Including this case in the “mystery” list is intellectually dishonest.

  6. The Grillmair case is SOLVED. Local criminal with prior trespass arrest. Zero defense connection. Including this inflates the count dishonestly.

  7. The Thomas case is explained. Both parents died the month before. Body found in lake near his home. Police find no foul play. This is grief.

  8. The Prichard case is explained. Domestic violence murder-suicide. Including three deaths from one domestic incident to inflate the “nine scientists” count is manipulation.

  9. Selection bias is powerful. If you search for “scientists who died” in any two-year window, you will find cases. We are not comparing against a control group.

  10. Rep. Burchett’s political incentive. Burchett is an outspoken UAP disclosure advocate. Connecting these cases to UAP serves his political agenda. He has not produced evidence, only rhetoric.

If we remove the explained cases (Loureiro, Grillmair, Thomas, Prichard/Gustitus), we are left with: Reza, McCasland, Casias, Chavez (disappearances) and Barnett, Dean, Maiwald, Balaji (deaths). Eight cases over 24 months in a workforce of millions. This is not statistically unusual.

What IS unusual: The Reza-McCasland Mondaloy/AFRL connection. That is the one needle in the haystack that requires further investigation regardless of one’s overall position on the pattern.

TZELEM (What If It IS a Program?)

Historical Precedent

The United States government has documented history of programs targeting individuals:

  • Project MKUltra (1953-1973): CIA program that conducted illegal experiments on unwitting subjects, including drugging, torture, and techniques for covert assassination. Documented, partially declassified, congressional investigation (Church Committee)
  • COINTELPRO (1956-1971): FBI program that surveilled, infiltrated, discredited, and disrupted domestic organizations. Included attempts to drive targets to suicide (documented case: letter to Martin Luther King Jr.)
  • Operation Paperclip (1945-1959): US recruitment of former Nazi scientists, with background doctoring and obstruction of war crimes investigations to protect recruitable assets
  • CIA Family Jewels (1973): Internal report documenting illegal CIA activities including assassination plots against foreign leaders (Castro, Lumumba, Trujillo)
  • Church Committee findings (1975): Senate investigation documented CIA assassination capabilities, domestic surveillance programs, and infiltration of domestic organizations

These programs establish: The US government has, within living memory, run programs to eliminate, silence, or control individuals deemed threats or assets. The capability exists. The institutional culture that enabled it existed. The question is whether it persists.

What a Modern Technology Suppression Program Would Look Like

If such a program existed today, it would:

  1. Target knowledge holders, not institutions. Destroying a lab draws attention. Removing the person who holds the key insight is quieter
  2. Prefer disappearances to murders. Missing persons generate less investigative pressure than homicides. Four of the anomalous cases are disappearances
  3. Exploit existing vulnerabilities. A hiker in rough terrain. An elderly person walking alone. A person in grief. A whistleblower under stress. None of these requires elaborate staging
  4. Be distributed across jurisdictions. Each case falls under a different police department, county, or state. No single agency sees the full picture. This is exactly what we observe
  5. Include misdirection cases. If four people need to disappear, having a dozen unrelated deaths in the same general sector creates noise that makes the signal harder to detect

Which Technologies Were These People Working On?

Person Technology Threatens What?
Reza Mondaloy superalloy (replace Russian RD-180 dependency) Actually SUPPORTS US military independence - not a competitive threat
McCasland Oversight of all SAPs + UAP knowledge Could threaten classified programs if disclosed
Casias Admin at nuclear weapons lab Unlikely to possess threatening technical knowledge
Chavez Unknown LANL work (retired) Unknown
Loureiro Plasma physics / fusion Fusion energy would disrupt fossil fuel and fission energy - but his work was theoretical
Barnett/Dean Boeing quality control evidence Threatened Boeing corporate interests, not Technate infrastructure
Balaji AI copyright / training data practices Threatened OpenAI business model and by extension the AI defense consortium

Assessment: If this is technology suppression, the target selection makes little sense. Reza’s Mondaloy supports the defense establishment - eliminating her would harm, not help, the Technate stack. McCasland’s disappearance in the context of UAP disclosure is the only case where the motive logic is coherent (silence someone who knows too much before records are released). The Boeing whistleblowers threatened a corporation, not a technology monopoly.

SOD (What Emerges)

The Signal vs. The Noise

After examining all eleven cases individually with sources, the following emerges:

The noise (cases that should NOT be grouped):

  • Loureiro: killed by known attacker from his university days
  • Grillmair: killed by local criminal with prior trespass history
  • Thomas: grief-related death, no foul play
  • Prichard/Gustitus: domestic violence murder-suicide
  • Maiwald: insufficient information to assess

The genuine anomalies (warrant further investigation):

  • Reza: vanished without trace, co-inventor of national security superalloy
  • McCasland: vanished without trace, held highest clearance access to all SAPs, timing coincides with UAP disclosure order
  • The Reza-McCasland Mondaloy/AFRL funding connection: documented and specific

The gray zone (concerning but explainable):

  • Casias: LANL connection is institutional, not technical; admin role
  • Chavez: elderly, retired, could be health-related wandering
  • Barnett: documented mental health crisis, but timing during depositions is suspicious
  • Dean: genuine medical event, but proximity to Barnett’s death is unusual
  • Balaji: evidence points to suicide but timing as potential witness is concerning

The $175B Context

During the same period (2024-2026):

  • Palantir Maven contracts grew from $480M to $13B
  • Golden Dome missile shield: $185B project awarded to Palantir + Anduril
  • Valar Atomics (Palantir/Anduril investor network): $130M Series A
  • Anthropic designated “supply chain risk” for refusing autonomous weapons clauses
  • Operation Epic Fury deployed Maven AI to process 5,500+ targets

The defense technology market was not static during this period. Massive contracts were being awarded. The question is whether any of the deceased/missing individuals were obstacles to those contracts. The answer, based on available evidence, is: probably not. Reza’s Mondaloy supports the defense establishment. McCasland was retired. The Boeing whistleblowers targeted production quality, not technology direction.

What Would Change This Assessment

This analysis would shift significantly if:

  1. A connection between Reza and McCasland beyond the Mondaloy funding chain were documented
  2. Evidence emerged that any of the disappeared persons had been contacted by investigators or journalists about classified programs before vanishing
  3. Additional cases emerged with specific, documented connections to the same programs
  4. An official investigation (FBI, IG, congressional) identified common elements across cases
  5. McCasland is found and explains his disappearance

Congressional Interest

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) has publicly called for FBI assistance and has warned of a “dark” pattern. However, Burchett is a UAP disclosure advocate with political incentive to connect these cases. No congressional investigation has been formally launched as of April 2026. No law enforcement agency has publicly confirmed any connection between cases.

APPENDIX B: What Separates This Analysis from Conspiracy

  1. Every case is sourced individually from mainstream outlets (CNN, NBC, NPR, MIT News, Caltech, Nature, PBS, ABC News, Washington Post)
  2. Each case is assessed on its own merits with an anomaly rating, not lumped together
  3. Explained cases are labeled as explained (Loureiro, Grillmair, Thomas, Prichard/Gustitus)
  4. The adversary position is given full weight - coincidence is the most likely explanation for the aggregate pattern
  5. The one strong signal (Reza-McCasland Mondaloy connection) is identified specifically, not dissolved into the general pattern
  6. No fabricated statistics or sources - where information is unavailable, it is marked as such
  7. The media amplification cycle is documented - how 4 anomalous cases became “nine dead scientists” through counting methodology
